Lesson 24 of 25
In Progress

Graduation

Hurrah! It’s time to celebrate graduation, so give your dog a present to congratulate them.

Non-frustrating, enjoyable problem-solving opportunities create optimism. Introducing new relationship-building activities unrelated to the ‘problem behaviour’ improves self-confidence, working memory and neuroplasticity.

Method

  • Choose a gift for your dog without leaving the house. It could be an old favourite toy that they haven’t played with for a while. It could be a teddy, a Kong, a handful of treats, a fleece tug, a wash cloth, a glove, a chew of some kind.
  • Wrap it up in a box or paper bag. Don’t make it too difficult, we don’t want to create any frustration.
  • Give it to your dog and let them open it themselves, or give them a helping hand.
