Cheese Trees

Fencing and Cheese TreesĀ

What?

Dogs stretch up on their hind limbs to eat treats from fences or trees (on any other safe raised surface).

Why?

Encourages dogs to be curious about their environment and increases confidence. Great for stretching, balance and core strength.

Method

Allow your dog to discover the treats in their own time and at their own pace. Place food at different heights – fences and trees are perfect.

Ensure there are some treats low down too in case they don’t want to stretch or it’s uncomfortable for them. We need to give them choices.

This is a non-directed search – no cues, just let them explore and discover.

You can help by pointing and gently encouraging if you need to help them get started.

For dogs that lack confidence, start with low surfaces and gradually go higher over subsequent sessions.
