The Struggle

The growth you want – for you and your dog – often hides inside the very struggle you're trying to avoid.
Most dog owners don’t realise this, but progress feeds on challenge. Not on perfection, not on getting it right the first time. On showing up, even when it’s hard.
When you avoid addressing the parts that feel uncomfortable: the setbacks, the “bad walks,” the failed recall, you’re not protecting your progress. You’re actually holding it back.
Here’s what all Stress Free Dog Owners know: Long-term confidence is earned through short-term discomfort.
- That might mean facing your fear of getting it wrong in public.
- Trying again after an emotional meltdown.
- Letting go of the pressure to “fix” everything in one go.
So here’s a question for you today: What are you avoiding because it’s uncomfortable?
Do you:
- Put off practicing again because yesterday it all went wrong
- Hold back from asking for help because you “should know this by now”
- Avoid sharing a training video because you’re worried what people will think
- Stay in your head and talk yourself out of trying again
Growth never comes from comfort. It comes from the stretch. When you find yourself in the thick of it – frustrated, exhausted, ready to give up – remember the moth:
Struggling to escape the cocoon is what makes the moth’s wings strong enough to fly.
Believe me when I say it’s the hard things that will make you strong. Nobody who is now enjoying stress free walks could avoid it.
Today’s Action
During this event, when you feel the urge to avoid something because it feels difficult or uncomfortable – congratulations! You’ve just found the thing that is most important that you do.
Whatever it is, take the smallest possible step toward the struggle, not away from it.
We’re sharing a toolkit to help you safely step into The Struggle in the VIP Workshops this week. You can join us here: https://stressfreewalks.dog/registration-success
